GBIG members agree to:

Be honest in all dealings with you
Tell you about any call-out fees before coming to you
Let you know straight away if they can’t do the work
Keep appointments and arrive on time (calling in advance if they need to reschedule)
Be realistic about when they can start work and how long it will take
Be courteous. Treat you, your property and belongings with respect
Keep you in the picture about all aspects of the work
Return phone messages promptly
Create an additional contract for variations from the original agreement
Deal with complaints promptly and professionally
Never be verbally or physically abusive or threatening to a customer in any way
Not obtain work through cold calling

GBIG members will give you a feedback card up front. After they have finished the work, send it in to let the public know how they did. If you prefer, give your feedback online.

All GBIG members are thoroughly vetted before they are displayed on our website. Over the years our vetting requirements have been improved and adapted to keep up with government legislation and current laws as well to keep up with our own continuously raising standards. On each of our members’ pages you will be able to see exactly which checks have been carried out and passed.

Interviewed	We interview all our members to ensure that GBIG membership is right for them. This also gives us an indication of how they conduct themselves.
Accreditations and Qualifications	Not all trades require accreditations so you may not see this on every one of our member’s profiles. However, any accreditations or qualifications you do see advertised on one of our trader’s profiles has been checked and verified by us.
Public Liability Insurance	Where possible members must have valid Public Liability Insurance, to ensure you and your property are covered, before they are advertised on our website. This is not always feasible for simple jobs.Where applicable, we require up to date copies of their Public Liability Insurance each year upon renewal. You can see on each of our member’s profiles whether or not we currently hold a valid, in date copy. If this matter is important to you please enquire and ask to see their insurance before hiring them.
ID checked	Each new member must provide us with a valid, in date copy of either a photo driving licence or passport or Voters ID so that we can verify their identity.
References	All members are continually monitored with your help. Before they make it onto our site, we contact 5 of their previous customers to find out about their experience and to help us build a profile of how they conduct their business.
Address verified	All new members are required to provide proof of address which is verified by a credible form(s) of documentation.
VAT registered	We’ll let you know if a member is VAT registered. We record and display their VAT registration number. This may not apply to all members depending on turnover and size of business.
